Photo Album Another Visit to Japan by David Maclennan |

This is a vase from the Noritake gallery. It was very beautiful so I just had to take a photograph of it.

This again is part of the Noritake gallery. As I said in the written journal, Ann is very interested in china as she used to work for a firm in the UK called "Susie Cooper", which is now part of Wedgwood. She thought that the designs in the photograph were rather similar to some she had seen over 40 years ago.
This is a house on the outskirts of Magome. We passed by it on the first stage of our walk along Nakasendo. I took the photograph because it represented, to me, the beauty of rural Japan. |

These are our rooms in the Minshuku Fujioto in Tsumago. To us, on a very limited budget, it represented excellent value for money.
A view of Matsumoto Castle. In the foreground is the bridge across the moat. The staircase up to the top floor is very steep indeed. This was to make it very difficult for any attackers to get to the top of the Castle.
This was our first real view of sakura in blossom and was taken in the grounds of Taisha-ji in Mishima. We just happened to be passing with some friends in their car after having had lunch. The temple grounds were just one mass of cherry blossom of which this is but a very small part.

This is a photograph of Fuji san taken from above Susono on a beautiful sunny day.
This photograph was taken in the grounds of Kenrokuen in Kanazawa. Kenrokuen is considered one of the best stroll gardens in Japan. You are looking back to Yugaotei ( a Tea House) across Gourd Lake.
Gardeners weeding in Kenrokuen. In the background is part of the Tatsumi Yosui Canal system.
An Organ Grinder who was performing on the streets of Arashiyama, near Kyoto. The ladies in the background were sitting enjoying the music.
Ann coming out of the (Benten Kutsu) caves at Hasedera in Kamakura. |
