#1 GREETING

Japanese Wedding

On November 1, 2003, our niece Kana Nagai was married to Masashi Yamamuro.
I would like you to see her wedding.
I could not attend it, but when I was making this web-page, I felt I were there.
So please enjoy yourself, as if you were there.

While making this page,
Harumi is humming some love songs.
Hum-hum-hum-la-la-la......
Do you hear me?

Isagawa Shrine, in Nara City

Bride is ready.
She wears "Siro-muku" Kimono.
Siro-muku means all pure white.

To Kana
from your Aunt
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I'll love you more

.
Bridegroom wears "Haori and Hakama"

Shinto Priest swings "Onusa" to purify everyone
before he calls for God
to come down to marry them.
Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, that's how you'll stay
That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

Your mother was crying,
Your father was crying,
And I was crying too.
The teardrops were falling because
We were losing you.

From left to right:
Younger brother Masataka
Big brother Masayasu
Sister Shigeko
Mother Sanae
Father Masaomi

A girl called "Miko" serves Sake
to Bride and Groom
With loving care and with pleasure,
In the lamp light I will sing,
I will trust in my bridegroom,
I will give Him everything.
In bright color
And in joyous line,
In morning light And lampfire.
I'll make fine my home here,
And trust in my home to come.
La la la, la la la laaa la,

.
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings

The sake servers.
This sake is a special, purified sake
to make the bond firm.

Bride and Groom approach the altar
with a branch of holy tree "Sakaki".

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
As high as souls can fly
The clouds roll by
For you and I

The newly wedded couple read
their vow of eternal love before the God.

Families of both sides.
Next to Groom: Kazuo Yamamuro (Father)
Hideyuki Ashitani (Brother-in-law)
Before Hideyuki: Kazuko (Mother)
Keiko Ashitani (Younger sister)
Before Keiko: Takuya (Keiko's son)
Before Kazuko: Kota (Keiko's son)

Spring is here and the sky is so very blue.
Whoa-o-o-o, birds all sing as if they knew,
today's the day we'll say, "I do,"
and we'll never be lonely anymore.

Because we're goin' to the chapel
and we're gonna get married,
goin' to the chapel
and we're gonna get married,
gee, I really love you
and we're gonna get married,
goin' to the chapel of love.

My flower, my fragrant lei
I will string and bind
Like the fragrant jasmine flower

You are my blossom (you, my blossom)
My lei of lehua (lehua)

Bride wants to be dressed
also in a western white wedding gown.

She likes this yellow dress too.
My funny valentine;
Sweet, comic valentine;
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable;
Unphotographable;
Yet, you're my favorite work of art.
Is your figure - less than Greek?
Is your mouth - a little weak?
When you open it to speak, are you smart?
Don't change a hair for me;
Not if you care for me
Stay, little valentine, stay!
Each day is valentine's day

I promise to love you and do my best for you
I need you to help me to find my strength
Walk with me all through my life
My lover my husband my wife
Write this story with me

After the ceremony, they enjoyed a feast.

Bride's mother Sanae wears a formal Kimono
for married women, "Tomesode".
Tomesode is often black, with colorful design,
and the family crests.
Tomesode is used only for very happy
and honorable occasions.
Mama, mama you know I love you
(You know, mama, you know I love you)
You know I love you
Mama, mama, you're the queen of my heart
(The queen of my heart)
Your love is like tears from the stars
(See your love, your love is like tears from the stars)
Mama I just want you to know
(Mama whoa, my mama, mama)
Lovin' you is like food to my soul
(Loving you is like food to my soul)

Oh yeah, yeah
You are the food to my soul
Yes you are

Fly me to the moon
Let me sing among those stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars

In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby kiss me

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore

In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Bride's grandmother Kaga could not
attend the ceremony.
So the couple had visited her beforehand.
Thank you for your attending this wedding ceremony.
I am sure Kana will be very happy with Masashi for all her life.

In Karatsu, spring is near, and the sky is getting blue.
I wish you a happy Valentine's Day.
Thank you very much for visiting this page.
I hope you will return next month.
Yours, Harumi Okochi
